Wireless ruters do not affect VOIP when loaded from the web. Routers route, but do not turn off features of running programs. You are not specific about why the router does not support VOIP. If the VOIP is a computer add-on device, it should work normally being connected through the computer. It sounds like your VOIP device is the problem. Use yahoo voice. It is cheaper and no hardware to install or affect other things.
Dump the VOIP router.
(No, I am not on the yahoo staff. I use Yahoo voice for my calls. Most of the time, it works great. Occasionally, some weird sounds.
