Is it possible to get broadband without a telephone line?
Moving house soon, and we dont want to get a home telephone line as we all have mobiles and feel theres no need for a home phone, yet we need broadband, is it possible to have broadband without having a home phone line?

Yes no telephone line needed for broadband!
Yes I have via a Virgin cable network
For broadband, you need a telephone line. Get cable, its faster, and doesn’t require. One problem is… if you live in a rural area, chances are they don’t have it in your area.
only if you have cable access which is not every where i live in a large town that does not have cable access at all check to see if you are able to access cable where you would want the broadband set up
yes it is look for now broadband they are very good i used them for two years
Edit: It is a Modem that sits in you window which you plug your computer into. You dont need a telephone line
u need a line but dont have to have a phone. thats what we did
you do not need a land line for broadband my son has only a mobile phone – but he has broadband ok
You are still going to need a wall socket which you plug your modem into so although you don’t need a telephone line you’re still going to have to be connected via an underground cable to your ISP (internet service provider.
no need to have a landline…just get cable, DSL or Wi-max!!
You dont need a phone line in your home to get fast Broadband.
You can get a mobile broadband connection using a usb plug in device.
Yeah you can get cable broadband internet service.
Quite a few answers above but I found them quite confusing so I thought I would join the thread! I went through similar thought process having moved house a month ago and here’s a summary.
You do need a BT line for most of the broadband providers but, as said above, you don’t need to use the phone itself, you just need to pay line rental, which is £11 with BT at the moment. A bit of a pain if there’s no BT line at your new address as having the line installed costs £125. And then you will need add costs of broadband on top of that which I think will be minimum of £7 so at least £18/month.
Another option is to go with cable – you can get Virgin broadband only for £17 a month. But, here’s my favourite bit about Virgin – if you get a package – broadband and phone – it will cost £15 a month. Installation costs £30 and if you order it online you get, I think, £20 discount.
Or you can go with a 3G card which is a wireless card which you can get from mobile providers that you just insert into your PC and you get internet. I haven’t cosidered this option as I doubt it’s reliability, speed and cost.
So to sum up, yes, you can have broadband without a phone line although with Virgin it is cheaper to have both
Hope this helps!
