  1. I have installed this on my computer despite having to download the windows vista driver on another computer and transfering it on a memory stick because it didn’t come with the adaptor. The signal is poor at best despite the router only being 5m away. Also the connection is regularly lost every few minutes. This happens at any time of the day. I have checked with my broadband supplier and there is no problem with the network. I also use a laptop and this has no problems with the wireless signal even when used over 15m away.

I appreciate the other reviewers have sorted their bugs but quite frankly, I don’t have to! I am asking for my money back.

Wireless adapters on PCs have always been crap (hardware and software), and this one is better than some I’ve used (e.g. Safecom), but it’s still pretty crap. Every day or two the internet connection conks out. Then I have to remove the adapter, kill the WG111 process, reconnect it, and restart the software (dismissing a number of meaningless dialog boxes), and then after half a minute or so it works again. It may be overheating, since it gets alarmingly hot. The software is as shoddy as any I’ve seen with wifi products (typos in the interface, confusing, etc.)

Right next to my WinXP PC, my Macbook and Mac Mini *never* lose their wifi connections (to the same router).

  3. So far the only problem I’ve had was downloading the driver from netgear and I think that’s because I’m not very computer literate (Age I think) The adapter has worked perfectly, and setting it up was relatively easy. Though I know it’s early days yet so I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope I don’t get any of the problems that the other reviewers seem to get. I would certainly buy another adapter from Netgear.

    O/S – Windows Vista

Works brilliantly for me. It was so easy to set up and I was on the internet within minutes. My router is about 30ft away (through two walls and down some stairs) and my signal strength is medium; as I would expect from a device this size.

I’ve had no problems, and am very pleased with my purchase.

I have a Netgear Rangemax router/modem plugged into my desktop PC. I bought this adaptor for my daughter’s laptop which has XP. At first it kept dropping the connection but when she used the advice from the review by Andrew Thomas re-disabling the wireless zero connection and downloading the latest driver there have been no problems since. In fact she did the same with her second laptop (also XP)and the Rangemax connector that came with the router and had failed to work properly. Again it has worked perfectly ever since.
