Problem pasting characters into SMF forum v1.1.6

We’re having a problem with newly installed SMF forum software version 1.1.6. Can anyone offer any help?

When the beta testers try to cut and paste passages, SMF truncates the article after certain characters.

It’s clearly barfing on the dash in the below pasted line:
"Seven years into George W. Bush’s Global War on Terror, the Pentagon is embroiled in two big wars, a potentially explosive war of words with Tehran, and numerous smaller conflicts – and it is leaning ever more heavily on private military contractors to get by."

It’s clearly barfing as well on the ellipsis in the below pasted line:
"One knew nothing … And sometimes it seemed that something never seen yet long desired was about to happen,"

Again the article is truncated, blank after the barf character.

Here’s the weirder part:
1-I went to the SMF demo forum and pasted in the two passages quoted above, and it’s fine. It does not truncate the passages. The SMF demo is version 1.1. I’m not allowed to paste the URL here ’cause I’m new.

2-If I type the above quoted passages directly into my newly installed forum, SMF version 1.1.6, again there is no problem. It does not truncate the typed version. It just truncates the pasted version.

Does anyone know what the problem is?
