WALL-E (2 Disc Special Edition) [DVD] [2008]

Amazon.co.uk Review
Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot–with a big, big heart–who holds the future of Earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He’s outlasted all the “Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class” robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he’s developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with h… More >>

I hope this is the 2 disc edition, just like in the U.S., otherwise I’ll pass… The movie is great though…

If you are a planet hugger and enjoy what is essentially a covert social propaganda film pretending to be entertainment, then this is for you.

I suggest that it is just another Establishment medium trying to lay a subconscious guilt trip on us all so the ‘gummint’ can condition us for more taxes to clean up the mess that we all supposedly make. We seem to be getting more and more of these politically correct movies.

The quality of animation is quite good at the start. It even has humorous bits. Then it is all downhill. Our family, both kids and adults, were thoroughly bored by the end. Disappointing!

Sorry, not one of Pixar’s or Disney’s best.

  3. Bad,Bad, science fiction. Staggering, so limited in scope and view. This film is behind even existing tech. Just read one of the Ian Banks Culture novels to understand. If you don’t know it’s real now, you are already too late!

I went to see this film with a friend and we were bored…My friend actually fell asleep… it was about a robot left alone that went into space to save fat americans…
