I am looking to switch over to Linux and I know that Ubuntu is not compatible with my drivers.

No Linux uses Windows drivers (exception: ndiswrapper).
I tried for two years to get any Linux working on my Acer Laptop (Aspire 3000). Then, found the latest version of Freespire, free from:
It's the closest yet, but some "Acer key combos" still don't work.
linux is compatible with most hardware on the market. u might try fedora core or freespire if ubuntu is not working
Download the ubuntu live CD and try it in your laptop. It will boot into memory, and won't touch your windows on the hard drive. Its a great way to answer that question.
It'll probably work.
I found that Ubuntu 7.10 and version 8 caused video driver problems with my desktop computer, but had no problems with older versions. It is basically a trial by error and as suggested download and burn a Linux LiveCD and test it that way. I also found that Xandros messed up my laptop computer and had to pull the battery off to get it to shut off. Remember that all Linux is trial by error in general. I have successfully used about 150 different Linux versions, both free and commercial in the past ten years.
